More Solitude

forget land

I rolled out the door at 7:30am. I checked Carpinteria City Beach, just to get a sense of where the tide was at. I head south, dropping by Rincon. It doesn't break this time of year, but I still like to check it out anyway. I took a peak at Mussel Shoals, then decided on Hobson's.

I knew Mondo's, Emma Wood and C Street would be packed, but nobody wants anything to do with Hobson's. It's a weird, gutless wave with no direction nor intent. It's not so different from my good ol' Beer Can Beach. I found free parking inside the camground and paddled out. I bagged 7 or 8 lefts, 2 or 3 rights, then drove back to Santa Barbara for breakfast.

By any standard, it was a damn fine couple of days. Now I am home watching Dodger baseball, the cat is asleep next to me and it's all good.

I shoulda told you, I've been busy, but Santa Clause sometimes is pretty fun this time of year.

I saw Hobsons looking really good in January, and my friends said it was working well this winter, and they seemed amazed.
